World Environment Day
World Environment Day is celebrated on the 5th of June every year. World Environment Day is the most important day for the United Nations to raise awareness and mobilize people around the world to protect our environment. Since 1974, Environment Day has been transformed into a global platform celebrated in more than 100 countries. The World Environment Day is organized every year on the theme of an important environmental issue. This year the organization is hosted by China and it is celebrated with the theme of ‘air pollution’. Every year around 7 million people in the world lose their lives due to air pollution. Approximately 4 million of these deaths occur in the Asia-Pacific region. In addition, 9 out of 10 people worldwide are exposed to higher levels of air pollution, as determined by the World Health Organization. Air pollution does not only affect human health and economic development but also causes global warming.

• Walking or cycling instead of using cars and public transport,
• Switching off electrical and electronic equipment when not in use,
• Controlling the efficiency of home heating systems, preferring those who are energy efficient and suitable for human health,
• No burning of wastes that cause direct air pollution,
• Increasing green areas in the cities where we live,
• Use of clean technologies in industry,
• Investing in renewable energy sources.

Energy Efficiency in Cable Manufacturing Sector
Energy efficiency studies in the industry directly affect the cost and it has a positive impact on the profitability. The investments can be realized at a lower cost than the other sectors, and the investments made in a short time can take a significant advantage in the competitive conditions. For this reason, energy efficiency studies in many countries are concentrated in the industrial sector especially because they are effective and prioritized.

In this study, an exemplary study to reduce energy losses is shown. The actively used line pump system in casting line is changed with more efficient pump systems to prevent energy loss. The aim is to minimize the energy consumption per unit work by energy saving through replacing existing pump motors with efficiency class high pumps and other equipment.

An Overview on the Use of Global Natural Resources
It is foreseen that global natural resources will continue to decrease due to industrialization process, population increase and economic developments. Moreover, it is noteworthy that the use and distribution of natural resources in different regions and countries around the world is not even. Biodiversity loss is expected to continue due to various reasons such as changes in land use, habitat fragmentation, excessive use, illegal wildlife trade, invasive species, pollution and climate change. If current population increase and economic growth continue in the same way, natural resources such as agricultural products, water resources, mines and minerals, biomass and fish, and ecosystem services may decrease at critical level in the future.

For this reason, it is important for countries to adopt and implement various strategies and policies in line with their priorities in order to use their resources efficiently. In this context, in many countries, plans and policies have been established in areas including waste management, cyclical economy, sustainable production and consumption, resource efficiency and energy efficiency. There are also a number of international agreements for countries to decide and act together.
